A properly structured and individually tailored training plan will always lead to an increase in your performance: VO2Max, speed, endurance. However, structuredness alone is not enough — you need a training plan that suits you, changes with you and adapts to you.
Like GPS-navigator in your car, which continues to lead you to the final destination using the new route, if you suddenly turned the wrong way.
We often hear the stories of our customers. The most common is about past coaching experience, when the coach literally made them execute a pre-made plan. Do what is needed — after all, I’m a coach!
Very few can withstand such a harsh approach. It is more suitable for professional athletes. Most amateurs just quit.
Another example is the case when your training plan (downloaded from the Internet) suddenly ceases to suit you after a while. There are many reasons — illness, a business trip, meetings with friends, family affairs — all this knocks us out of the ideal training trajectory. And the question arises: “From when should I continue following my old plan?” There is no answer to it because the old plan is dead, you need a new plan!
We use an adaptive approach to planning your workouts. Your individual plan is not set in stone, but changes and lives with you. Each of your completed training determines its further trajectory. How does this work?
Everything is simple: You train - we calculate! How pace and heart rate correlates? What is your running efficiency? And training load? How it all deviates from your normal values and plan? Have you been exercising more than planned for a while? The data will show it. This is a signal to us to reduce your load.
This signal is not the only one — we also use your perceived effort and how-I-felt estimation. They complete the picture of data analysis and, if confirmed by training data, lead to changes in your future training tasks.
Our idea is not to make you become somebody else. We adjust the load to your abilities just in time. So you remain yourself and continue to move towards your goal.
The essence of the adaptive approach, which combines data analysis and subjective stress estimation, is that live training plan adapts to you. Not visa versa.
It does’t mean progress will not be hard earned. You will definitely do your long, intense and all-out workouts, falling asleep when you get home. But only at intensity that suits you. This is what will lead you to progress, while maintaining the pleasure of the process, health and motivation.
For this to happen, training records and feedback is important. Connect your sports watch, Strava account or use our built-in tracker. Talk about how you feel by answering questions at the end of the week or by simply clicking the “Answer” button to the question “How do you feel?” on your calendar.
Make the most of your OMY! Sports live training plan.
